{יוספוס פלביוס}
Immortalized by Josephus Flavius,
the first Jewish revolt remains one of the most dramatic events
in both Jewish and world histories. The failure of the revolt
led to terminal loss of any kind of Jewish sovereighty, destruction
of the temple and started the slow decline of Judaea as the
center of Jewish existence. We remember this day at 9 of Av
, both tempels were destroyed at that day.
62 years after the destruction of the temple there was another
revolt: Bar Kochba's revolt, which ended with another loss
and failure.
Coinage of both revolts was a "rebellious" coinage:
these coins were illegal according to Roman rule. The coins
have only Hebrew inscriptions and usual minting shows the
symbols of tools and vessels used in the temple or the seven
species.
